Celebrating vaccines’ greatest hits

July 15, 2025

Summer isn’t summer without a good playlist. From outdoor music festivals to pool parties to radio countdowns, there’s something about the summer months that calls out for a good song.

At DefeatDD, vaccines are topping the charts for us this summer. They are one of the best buys in public health, and they are an essential component of efforts to protect children from diarrhea, alongside water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH), nutrition and breastfeeding, and oral rehydration solution (ORS) and zinc.

This summer, we celebrate that Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance secured more than $9 billion for its next strategic period to protect children from preventable diseases. In the last 25 years, Gavi has vaccinated more than 1.1 billion children and prevented 18.8 million deaths, helping to cut child mortality in half.

But the work’s not over yet, and it’s time to turn up the volume in our advocacy for further investment in strong immunization systems. All summer long, we’ll be sharing songs, resources, and stories of vaccine impact that remind us of the value of vaccines. We invite you share your own #VaxTracks on social media and tag us on Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook.

  • Dark blue graphic with “DEFEATDD” and tags #VaxTracks, #DefeatDD at the top. Large text reads “Celebrating Vaccines’ Greatest Hits.” Right side shows illustrated vaccine vials on purple paint strokes. Button says “Swipe to reveal.”.

These are just a few examples of our favorite songs on our #VaxTracks playlist!

While global immunization levels have held steady since 2023, we have more work to do to reach 2030 targets. Now more than ever, we can’t afford to hit rewind on the progress we’ve made for child health.

Vaccines for rotavirus and other diseases have already saved millions of lives, but there’s still work to do to ensure every child has access to this life-saving intervention. Join us as we continue to champion vaccines as one of public health’s greatest hits.
